One Day Niche
A faith-based activity-based day program for adults with disabilities in West Michigan
The Challenge
There are 100s of people in our community isolated at home with cognitive disabilities. They are usually dependent on the schedules of loved ones and caregivers for their opportunities to connect to with others and create meaningful lives outside their homes.
We discovered that far too many adults with cognitive disabilities were stuck at home with minimal support and programming after they aged out of their school district’s special education program.
It’s sad, but once some of the most vulnerable people reach 26, many of the supports that they and their caregivers depend on have been removed.
It often falls to those who see the need to be the ones to address it. That’s why we created One Day Niche.
The One Day Niche Solution
When One Day Niche provides opportunities for those with cognitive disabilities, mental health is improved, the local economy benefits and a greater understanding of the needs within the community are achieved.
We want to create a comfortable and safe space where individuals with different abilities can come together, form friendships, and find community.
We want to partner with businesses in the local community to provide opportunities for those with cognitive disabilities to participate in society.
We want to fill the gap where services end and isolation begins by providing meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and interact for those in our community with cognitive disabilities.

One Day Niche Mission
Above all, constantly seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly. Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.” Matthew 6:33–34 (TPT)
Our mission is to have a place where individuals can come and find their niche in life.
